ODRM provides independent, evidence-led guidance on the risks that shape occupational diving. We serve regulators, project owners, prime contractors, and safety professionals who need a clear, authoritative understanding of the hazards present in commercial and military diving work.
Decisions before the dive
Decisions made before a diver enters the water determine whether that diver comes home. ODRM exists to make sure those decisions are grounded in real experience and honest risk assessment.
Where ODRM fits
ODRM acts as a safety consultant. We advise clients on the diving safety matters that need attention and provide findings and recommendations to support their decisions.
The prime contractor makes and manages the work arrangements. The diving contractor directs and supervises its diving operations. ODRM’s advice supports these roles and their respective responsibilities.
Depending on the project, our assistance may include:
- Advice on defining the underwater task and identifying safety considerations.
- Review of hazard assessments and proposed risk controls.
- Assessment of a diving contractor’s qualifications, experience and proposed equipment.
- Independent review of dive plans and emergency arrangements.
- Site observations, with safety concerns and recommendations reported to the prime contractor.
- Post-project review to identify lessons and opportunities for improvement.
We agree on the scope of our consulting work with the client so that our role and reporting arrangements are understood.
